VIOLENT ECSTASY (2023)

Thrash metal band Payback announces “Violent Ecstasy”, their second studio album. The successor to “Padecer”, released in 2020, is now available digitally on all platforms. The physical version will be released soon by Black Hole Productions and will feature a special bonus track to be announced.

According to bassist and vocalist Daniel Tulher, “Violent Ecstasy” - as its name already suggests - corresponds to the state of violent ecstasy in which a large part of Brazilian society is submerged. Designed by the great artist Márcio Aranha, who has worked with names such as Blasthrash, Flageladör and Cerberus Attack, the cover materializes a critique of the feeling of hatred and lethargy that generated an escalation of neo-fascism in the country that came to dominate even the State. "Misogyny, racism, gratuitous violence, apology for the use of firearms, sensationalism, equality over class consciousness, religious intolerance, false moralism, false patriotism. All these elements served as fuel for an explosion that shook the country's structures and to a fire that still seems far from being extinguished.” explained.

The band's sound remains anchored in Thrash Metal, with Hardcore increasingly present and leaving the influences of Death Metal aside, but without abandoning them.

The album was recorded at Estúdio Moai by Fábricio Borges and Débora Coimbra and produced by the band itself. Mixing and mastering was handled by Hugo Silva, from Family Mob Studios, who has worked with names like Krisiun, Sepultura and Nervosa.
